Succulents store water in their thick, fleshy leaves and stems, and thus can endure extended periods of drought – great plants for those that travel! Most types of succulents require warm temperatures, moderately dry, well-draining soil and sunlight. Their shallow roots should not be allowed to sit in water; else they will rot and die.
