Description
Hut 3 With its sweet pink blooms and vigorous growth, Spice Girl Koreanspice viburnum is one of the very best choices for springtime fragrance. Large flower clusters emit a spicy-sweet scent in mid-spring, and autumn brings an unforgettable display of bright red foliage. PLEASE NOTE: To produce berries, you’ll need another carlesii (same species) but a different cultivar (such as Spice Baby). Although viburnums are monoecious (plants have both male and female parts), they are pretty self-incompatible, requiring cross-pollination between at least two genetically different plants of the same species to set fruit in any quantity. Those genetically different plants must be in bloom at the same time so that visiting insect pollinators can do their job. Height: 6-7 ft. Spread: 6-7 ft. Family: Adoxaceae Bloom time: March to April Sun: full sun to part shade Water: medium According to Rutgers University, Viburnum carlesii are “seldom severely damaged by deer.” photo credit: Proven Winners a Proven Winners plant
