Description
Hut 3 Deutzia are delicately beautiful, small compact shrubs with hollow shoots, exfoliating bark and opposite, lanceolate, serrated green leaves. 5-petaled, white, pink or lavender flowers bloom in panicles or clusters on stems. Blooms on old wood, so prune if desired immediately after flowering. Flower buds are susceptible to late spring frosts; protect as necessary. Arching branches will root to the ground to form a shrubby groundcover. Prefers moist, well drained conditions. Best flowering in full sun. ‘Crème Fraiche’ was selected for its variegated cream and green foliage which retains its color until frost. Pearl-like flower buds open to fragrant, white flowers.
