Description
Hut 3 Ninebark is an upright, fast-growing, spreading shrub with arching branches – an excellent native shrub for year-round interest! White spiraea-like flowers are followed by attractive and persistent red fruit pods (aging to brown). Yellow fall color. Exfoliating bark peels in strips to reveal several layers of reddish to light brown inner bark (thus the common name). Tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions. Appreciates afternoon shade. Prune as needed immediately after bloom and no later than mid-August. Attracts birds and bees. ‘Nugget’ has foliage that emerges deep golden yellow then matures to a lime green in summer. The yellow foliage color intensifies again before falling in autumn. It glows! Height: 5-8 ft. Spread: 4-6 ft.
