An upright, compact shrub with orange new leaf growth and glowing orange-red fall foliage. Yellow trumpet-shaped flowers bloom all summer. The honey-like taste of the flower nectar can be enjoyed by suckling the flower, hence the common name of honeysuckle. Shade tolerant, although bloom and foliage color are best with some sun. Drought tolerant. Adaptable to any soil except soggy wet. Blooms on new wood; can prune if desired (but pruning is not necessary) in early spring. Attracts bees and hummingbirds.

Please note: This shrub should not be confused with Lonicera japonica, an exotic invasive species which has the same common name of “bush honeysuckle.”
This Diervilla is not exotic or invasive.
