Description
Look at all those colors – in the shade! Dark green, leathery, evergreen foliage. Nodding flowers bloom late winter to spring in a combination of dark reds, spotted pinks, picotees, and apricots. Provide well drained, high organic, moist soil. Protected from strong winter winds and wet roots which can cause rot. Foliage may become scorched and tattered in winter. Cut back flower stalks after bloom to encourage new foliage and trim back tattered leaves as necessary. This plant will self-sow happily if placed in the right conditions. Plants take 2 years to bloom from seed.
