Description
This is not a native plant, and yet I love it! It provides color later in the fall when many other plants are petering out. The medium green leaves age to a bronzy red, providing a stunning contrast to the bright true-blue flowers that bloom from summer until frost. Use as a groundcover to block weeds or as an underplanting under shrubs.
Wide range of soil tolerance, but well draining soil is necessary. May not be reliably winter hardy throughout USDA Zone 5 where it will benefit from a light winter mulch. Spreads by rhizomes and can be somewhat aggressive in optimum growing conditions. May divide in spring if desired.
