**This item may not be ordered online.** Plant plugs are little baby plants grown in single units in modular trays. In the spring, before we have had time to pot them up into their big girl and big boy homes (1 gallon pots), we have plant plugs for sale. Plugs can be planted right into your gardens. Young stems can be easily injured, so handle with care. Keep plugs well-watered and out of direct sunlight until they are planted. Plant plugs at the same depth as the original plug. Water in plugs immediately after planting to fill soil air holes around the roots. Apply a light layer of organic mulch which helps conserve soil moisture and reduces weed pressure. Wait to fertilize (if you choose to do so) until plant is established (approx. three weeks) as fertilizer can burn tender new growth. (Native plants, if planted using the maxim “right plant, right place” may not need fertilizer.) Protect new plantings from frost and freezing. Enjoy your babies!
