Bluebells are a woodland spring ephemeral. Erect and clump-forming with large oval-shaped, gray-green foliage and pendulous clusters of pink buds that open into light blue trumpet-shaped flowers. Shortly after flowering, the foliage begins to weaken and lose color, dying to the ground by mid-summer as the plant goes dormant. So enjoy its ephemeral beauty, and consider what will move into the space created by its departure. (Yay! Another reason to buy more plants!)

Prefers moist, rich soils. Spreads by rhizomes.
