Description
A bed of prairie smoke is a sight to behold! Low leafy rosettes of evergreen, fern-like, hairy foliage. Reddish-purple, bell-shaped flowers hang in groups of three. Seeds have pinkish-gray tails which form a fantastic, feathery plume. Prefers dry, well-drained soils. Will die out if subjected to wet winter soil conditions. Slowly spreads by rhizomes. Attracts butterflies. Height: 0.5-1.5 ft. Spread: 0.5-1 ft.
