Description
Low-growing perennial. Deep green shiny foliage. Clusters of star-shaped yellow flowers. Profuse spring bloom which tapers off in the heat of summer. Var. australe differs from the species as follows: (1) it is a more prostrate form with shorter flower stems and (2) it spreads more rapidly by above-ground stolons which periodically root at the ends (similar to a strawberry). Species spreads more slowly by underground rhizomes. Forms an attractive groundcover that is easily controlled and divided. Zones 5-9. Height: 0.5-1 ft. Spread: 1-2 ft.
