Description
Rosettes of rounded basal leaves wither early after sending up clusters of wiry stems with long, narrow foliage. Stems can be weak so that the entire plant bends over, but still looks graceful. Nodding, bell-shaped, lavender flowers. Prefers part shade (particularly afternoon shade). Needs regular and even moisture. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage additional bloom, but make sure to let some go to seed! Plants are often short-lived, but will remain in the garden in optimum growing conditions by self-seeding. Spreads by creeping roots. Attracts hummingbirds. Height: 1-1.5 ft. Spread: 0.5-1 ft. Family: Campanulaceae Bloom time: June to September Sun: full sun to part shade Water: medium Deer resistant photo credit: Kk
