Description
Phlox are showy and long-blooming. They grow best in rich, moist soil in full sun. Phlox requires good air circulation and consistent moisture, but avoid overhead watering. Deadhead to encourage rebloom. To minimize possible powdery mildew infection from overwintering, cut plants to the ground in late fall and remove along with any plant debris. Phlox paniculatas are upright perennials with stiff stems and dark green leaves. Fragrant tubular florets are densely packed for maximum attraction to butterflies. ‘Red Riding Hood’ is a compact variety with vivid clusters of fragrant, cherry-red flowers.
