Description
‘Red Rocks’ features showy spikes of two-lipped, tubular, rose-red and white flowers that bloom in loose upright panicles atop stems rising above the foliage. Narrow medium green leaves. Attracts hummingbirds, butterflies and bees. Penstemons are very drought tolerant perennials that are easy to grow and are rarely bothered by insects or diseases. Plant them in full sun and watch as hummingbirds feast on their delicious nectar. May deadhead to promote additional bloom. Tolerant of occasional drought once established. Avoid overly wet, poorly drained conditions. A light mulch in winter is recommended. Height: 1-1.5 ft. Spread: 0.75-1 ft.
